Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. – James 5:17-18
Do you ever feel like your prayers don’t really matter? Like God is more likely to listen to pastors, missionaries, or other “spiritual giants” than to ordinary people like you? James reminds us that Elijah, who prayed and stopped the rain for three and a half years, was just a regular person like us. He had fears, doubts, and struggles, yet his prayers moved heaven and earth. The power isn’t in the person praying; it’s in the God who hears our prayers. Your prayers carry the same potential for impact as any great biblical figure because you serve the same mighty God. When you pray with faith, believing that God can and will act, you’re participating in His work on earth. Your prayers for your children, your community, your nation, and your world matter more than you realize. God honors bold prayers because they honor Him. Don’t let feelings of inadequacy keep you from approaching God’s throne with confidence. You have direct access to the Creator of the universe, and He delights in hearing from His children. Your prayers today could be the catalyst for breakthrough in someone’s life.
Reflection
What bold prayer have you been hesitant to pray because you doubted your prayers could make a difference?
Quote

Prayer
Father, increase my faith and help me pray boldly, knowing that You hear and answer the prayers of Your children. Use my prayers to bring Your kingdom to earth.
